On the 24th of August, we will define the EAN (GTIN) parameter as mandatory in selected categories. This means that without the EAN code you will not be able to edit, resume, and list new or similar offers, in listed categories, without filling in the EAN parameter. This also applies to Flat File and Allegro API.
What is the EAN code and why should you complete it
The EAN code is an identifier for trade items, developed by GS1, an organization that develops and maintains standards for business communication. The uniqueness and universality of the identifier are useful in establishing which products you are selling and if we can display them in additional places - including on the product pages and in product recommendations. Additionally, your offers have a greater chance of appearing in our advertisements from external partners, e.g. on,Facebook, Ceneo, the Google network, and others.
In which categories will the EAN be mandatory
On the 24th of August, we will require the EAN in some of the categories: Child, Culture and Entertainment, Sport and Tourism, Supermarket, Beauty, Health. A detailed list of categories can be found in the xlsx file.
Where can you find or acquire the EAN
EAN can be found on the item’s packaging. It will most likely be represented by a barcode and/or a unique number, usually 8-13 characters long. Alternatively, it can also be found on the manufacturer’s website.
If your product does not have an EAN you can contact your local GS1 organization branch to acquire a unique EAN set. You will find more information on the GS1 organization website.
